Bye Bye Baby - Hello Old Friend

Our youngest daughter Gracie loved her pacifier. She called it her tee tee. We finally pried it out of her mouth right before she started Kindergarten - LOL. Our thought was, seriously, what harm does it really do? Are we going to be kicking ourselves for not taking it away from her earlier? Is she going to grow up with some issue because we didn't take her tee tee away earlier? I don't think so.

Gracie and I went grocery shopping on Saturday. For some reason, we went down the baby/pet aisle, which we never do, because we don't have pets or babies in our house anymore. We strolled right by the baby section where she saw a huge selection of pacifiers. She ran up to them, held out her arms like she was hugging them and said "Mommy, look at all these tee tee's!" Like she saw an old friend and wanted to hug them all. It was the sweetest thing. I actually wanted to get her one.

Gracie is a peanut. She is not on the "charts". She still has the "baby face" look about her and I could still picture her in my head with a tee tee in her mouth. Gracie was diagnosed with growth hormone defiency. She is producing very little growth hormone. Gracie was prescribed Nutropin, which is a growth hormone, and gets her first injection tomorrow. Our daughter Samantha was diagnosed with growth hormone defiency last spring and has been on Nutropin for about 6 months. We've seen excellent growth results in her. But, as I'm preparing myself and Gracie to start on growth hormone, I get the typical thoughts of wanting her to stay little for as long as possible. I don't want her to grow. I can still cradle her in my arms and kiss that baby soft skin.

So, as my daughter says Hello to her old friends, her tee tees. I say Bye Bye to my Baby and prepare myself for a young lady. Happiness and Sadness at the same time.
